| character of a place | the physical and human chararistcs that help distinguish aa place from other places. |
| perception | a veiwpoint from which ones experiences are veiwed from cultural experiences |
| formal region | a group of places that have similiar attributes for example political region |
| functional regional | a group of places connected by movement for example a region drained by the amazon and its tributaries |
| perceptual region | a group of places defined by its feelings and attributes |

| axid rain | chemicals polluted in the air combine with water vapor and rain down to earth |
| erosion | movement of weathered materials such as gravel soil and sand |
| sediment | small partices of soil sand andgravel |
| loess | fine grained mineral rich loam dust or silt deposited by the wind |
| glacier | a huge slow moving mass of snow and ice |
| moraine | a ridgelike mass of of rock gravel sand and claye carried and deposited by a glacier |
