Rotation the act of the earth turning on its axis
Revolution the act of Earth orbiting around the sun
Moons revolution and rotation 27.3 days
Size/ distance of the moon Earth across .27 (3500km) Earth away 30 (384,000)
Size/Distance of the Earth Earth across 1 (12,756) Earth away 0
Size/Distance of the Sun Earth across 109 (1,392,000) Earth away about 12,000 (150,000,000)
Why can the moon appear as large as the sun even though we know the moon is much smaller than the sun? the sun is 400 times larger than the diameter of the moon and the sun is also 400 times further away from the Earth.
Why do shadows change during the day The sun changes during the day because the suns rays of heat hits the Earth at different angles
Explain why shadows lengths change throughout the year Because the sun gets closer and further away from the Earth because of the Earths tilt towards or away from the sun.
What causes seasons It is Earths atmosphere and the tilt of its axis
What factors affect how hot or cold it is in any one place on Earth? The thickness of the Earths atmosphere, the angle of the sun moving across the sky, elevation on Earth
