8 parts of speech

define the words

TermDefinition
Noun person, place thing e.g. bird, hope
verb it's what the subject does, e.g. bird flies, she hopes
adverb modifies the verb e.g. the bird flies quickly. She hopes frequently. adverbs usually end in "ly"
adjective modifies a noun: The orange bird flies quickly. The hopeful girls wishes frequently.
interjections words you shout: "HEY!" "OH."
conjunctions little words that join words, phrases, clauses and sentences: and, or , but
prepositions little words that indicate space and time: over, through, above, to, for
