What is an Unconditioned Stimulus (UCS)? Stimulus that occurs naturally (Bell)
What is an Unconditioned Response (UCR)? Response that is natural to the unconditioned stimulus (no response to bell)
What is a Conditioned Stimulus (CS)? Stimulus that used to be neutral triggers response (bell is rung followed by food, salivation)
What is a Conditioned Response (CR)? Response that is learned to associate to the neutral stimulus (bell is rung, no food, still salivates)
Classical Conditioning is PASSIVE on the Part of what? The learner
What does Classical Conditioning NOT provide? Rewards
In operant conditioning, what does the learner have to do? Actively participate
What type of experiments did Albert Bandura do? Those that show we learn by imitating others
What is modeling? Learning process in which we observe and imitate behavior
What is Classical Conditioning? Stimulus that is neutral becomes associated with a meaningful stimulus and acquires the capacity to draw out a similar response
What is Operant Conditioning? External influences, not feelings govern behavior.
What is a reinforcer? An event that strengthens the behavior it follows
What is shaping? When reinforcers are used to guide behavior towards a goal
What is instinctive drift? A learned behavior triggers innate behavior (dog fetches toy then chews it up)
How does culture effect learning? It determines the content
What is acquisition? A Condition Response is first evoked from a Conditioned Stimulus
What are attributions? Judgements about the causes of outcomes
