state exam vocab for weather

TermDefinition
Front The boundaries between air masses. Some form of percipitation occurs when two fronts meet.
Climate Is the characteristic weather that prevails from season to season and year to year.
Weather Describes the conditions of the atmosphere at a given location for a short period of time.
Cause of weather. The uneven heating of the earths surface.
The movement of a air mass(group of air molecules with same moisture and temperature) Caused by prevailing winds and upper air currents.
Air masses form because of: Air remaining stationary over a large section of Earths surface and takes on the temperature and humididty of the region.
Changes in weather occur because: Air masses moving.
High pressure systems : Bring fair weather.
Low pressure systems: Usually bring cloudy and unstable weather.
Hazardous weather conditions include: Tornadoes, hurricanes,ice storms and blizzards.
