Grief USE: only if death happened. WHAT'S INVOLVED: -activate & navigate mourning process -normalize reaction -work through emotions -establish substitute relationships
Role Disputes USE: person needs help asserting self, confronting others, expressing anger. WHAT'S INVOLVED: identify dispute, plan course of action, assess communication styles -relate symptoms of depression to dispute -problem-solving: fix relationship, end it, etc.
Role Transitions USE: role changes. WHAT'S INVOLVED: -mourn loss & accept new role -examine pros/cons of new role -experience feelings about both roles -develop a sense of mastery w/ new role.
Interpersonal Deficits USE: has few supports; can't form/sustain relations. WHAT'S INVOLVED: -identify patterns of past relations -increase quality/quantity of relations -relationship w/ therapist emphasized -explore positive/negative aspects of relations -problem-solve
