Intellectual Property & Copyright

TermDefinition
Access Copyright Refers to the per utilization of an exclusive protected item of copyright.
Copyright Designates someone who has exclusive rights to something that they have authored (copy, music, art, etc)
Intellectual Property Refers to something that is created by the mind, such as an idea, invention, or design that is property of the author.
Royalty Refers to a payment that is due to the creator/author/proprietor of a copywritten item.
Trade Marks Refer to distinctive aspects that differentiate between products for the purposes of identifying them.
Public Domain Refers to item that may have formerly had copyright that is now ceased (eg lapsed copyright after authors death, forfeiture of copyright, or invalidity of the copyright for some reason)
Moral rights Refer to the rights and credit the author/ creator has a right to hold or be due in this role.
Performing rights Refer to the right of the performer to showcase a live version of such as a song or play.
Plagiarism Using someone else's words and not recognizing the author, or claiming them to be ones own is plagiarising.
Fair Dealing Involves the fair engagement with copywritten material for the puposes of such as research, privates study, news reporting, criticism or review.
Patent Refers to the exclusive use afforded to a manufacturer or producer of a product, from the government.
Blanket License Licence that allows for use of the copy written material for unlimited proportions, for a specified time frame. for example DJ's or Radio Stations.
