Physical Concepts of Energy

VOCABDEFINITION
INERTIA the tendency of a resting body to remain at rest
FORCE push or pull on an object
WORK whenever a force is acts upon a body, work is done
ENERGY may be defined as the ability to do work
KINETIC ENERGY the energy of a moving body
POTENTIAL ENERGY stored energy, energy at rest
LAW of CONSERVATION of ENERGY changes forms, and cannot be created nor destroyed
EINSTEIN'S THEORY of RELATIVITY energy = mass x speed of light in air or vacuum squared (E = mc*)
ELECTRIC MOTOR converts electrical energy to mechanical energy
BATTERY converts chemical energy to electrical energy
STEAM ENGINE converts heats energy to mechanical energy
GASOLINE ENGINE converts chemical to mechanical energy
