CHS Psychology class Jack- Definitions of Neurons

QuestionAnswer
Neurons Receive messages from many different things. They pass messages along.
Neurotransmitters Chemical substances that cause chemical changes in the receiving neuron and transmit to the next neuron
Glial cells Nourish and insulate neurons
Neural impulses Coordinate the itch of a mosquito bite, a skier's muscle and visual capability, composing music, solving algebra
Afferent Neurons Transmit messages TO the brain. 2-3 foot long.
Efferent Neurons Motor neurons that help arrive at logical conclusions. Transmit messages AWAY from the brain.
