formal language is english with precise rules of grammar , spelling , and usage applied
informal language slang consists of trendy made-up words and use of familiar words in new plays
colloquial language is language used in everybody speech it may be limited to geographic area
research questions determine a thesis
subordinate ideas as well as final conclusions
library a place to find text with in depth information as well as general resource materials like encyclopedias and reference books.
internet expect a broad rang of somewhat limited materials with lots of useless web sites to dig through
personal interview an expert or an eye witness provides personal connection to the topic but might also b somewhat unrelated to the information needed
survey doing your own research increase accuracy but takes time
primary sources contain information recorded by the people the people or institutions directly involved in the subject you are researching.
secondary sources contain information gathered by those who were not directly involved.
paraphrasing rewrite the ideas your research uncovers in your own words
summarizing condense your research into short restatements
clarity make sure you are clearly understood
focus make the thinking behind your easy to follow
bibliography is a listing of the sources used in research for a report
