Poetry Structure

TermDefinition
Poetry a type of literature that may encompass a variety of metered or rhtyhmically measured lines and is intended to evoke an emotional response in the reader.
End Rhyme rhymed on the terminal syllables of the verses.
Internal Rhyme rhyming words found within a line of poetry
Consonance A literary device in which the same consonance sound is repeated two or more times.Same consonant sounds at the beginning or end.
Slant Rhyme When there is a close but not exact rhyme. Vowel sounds are different
Assonance Similar vowel sounds recur, but there is not really full rhyming
