If you block the Alpha 1 receptor, what would you expect to happen? Decreased blood pressure (vasodilation), decreased heart rate, and increase the ability to void the bladder
What is Phenoxybenzamine, an alpha 1 antagonist, used in the treatment of? pheochromocytoma - a cancer that causes increases in circulating catecholamines, so blood pressure goes up radically. Phenoxybenzamine works to bring the BP back down to normal.

If you block the Beta 1 receptor, what would you expect to happen? Decreased heart rate & reduce the work of the heart
What is the half life of esmolol? 10 minutes
What is the half life of propanolol? 3.5 - 6 hours
