| Inertia | the tendency of a moving object to stay in motion or a resting object to stay at rest. |
| Force | any push or pull |
| Gravity | a force that pulls any two objects toward one another |
| Friction | a force caused by objects rubbing; slows it down motion |
| Speed | the rate at which an object moves or changes position |
| Velocity | the speed and the direction an object is moving |

| Isaac Newton | Defined the laws of motion and gravity. Tried to explain motion of the universe. |
| newton | unit that measures force |
