VOLCANO A volcano is an opening or rupture in a planet's surface which releases magma, hot ash and comes from a magma chamber beneath the earth.
MAGMA Magma is a mixture of molten or semi-molten rock that comes from beneath the surface of the earth.
VOLCANIC ASH Volcanic ash consists of pulverized rock and volcanic glass created while an eruption takes place
VOLCANIC GLASS Volcanic glass is the amorphous product of rapidly cooling magma lots of it refers to obsidian
SUPERVOLCANO A super volcano usually is a volcano that has a large caldera and if it erupts can produce devastation on if not enourmous but continental scale
CALDERA A caldera is a cauldron like volcanic feature that is created by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption.
ACTIVE An extinct volcano is a volcano that could erupt at anytime and this is a time scientists could not predict so its safe to keep away from one
DORMANT A dormant volcano is a volcano that hasn't erupted in quite a while but is not classed extinct and has a chance of erupting at anytime
EXTINCT An extinct volcano is a volcano is classified extinct because it has not erupted in over 1000 of years so is probably never going to erupt again.
