Inhibits acetylcholine synth, store, release. For focal dystonias, torticollis, achalasia, strabismus, blepharospasm, wrinkles, hyperhidrosis. SE: arrhythmia, syncope, hepatotox. degrades synaptobrevin and prevents vesicle fusion w/ presynaptic axon term Botulinum Toxin
inhibit acetylcholine degradation by acetylcholinesterase (AChE). for differentiating myasthenia gravis and Lambert-Eaton synd (improves muscle weakness with MG, no effect on LE). SE: Seizure, bronchospasm, bradycardia, salivation, lacrimation. short act Edrophonium
Inhibit AChE. For glaucoma, myasthenia gravis. SE: seizure, bradycardia, salivation, lacrimation, sweat. longer acting Neostigmine, Pyridostigmine, Ambenonium
Inhibit AChE. For reversing antichol toxicity. Nonpolar structure. SE: seizure, salivation, lacrimation, sweat. Physostigmine
Inhibit AChE. For Alzheimers and Dementia. SE: D/N/V, vivid dreams. Tacrine, Donepezil, Galantamine, Rivastigmine
Muscarinic R Agonist. For diagnosing asthma. SE: dyspnea, dizzy, pruritis. Contra: heart attack/stroke, aortic aneurysm. Highly resistant to AChE and selective for cardio muscarinic receptors Methacholine
Muscarinic R Agonist. For Glaucoma (non closed angle). SE: sweat, shiver, nausea. not used systemically b/c of high nicotinic action. Carbachol
Muscarinic R Agonist. For Urinary tract motility. SE: sweat, shiver, frequent pee. Bethanechol
Mucarinic R Agonist. For Xerostomia in Sjogrens. SE: sweat, shiver. Pilocarpine, Cevimeline
Nicotinic R Agonist. For inducing depolarizing neuromuscular blockade before surgery/intubation. SE: Bradycardia, rhabdomyolysis, rigid muscles. Contra: UMN injury. Succinylcholine
Muscarinic R ANtagonist. For AChE overdose, bradycardia, antidote to mushroom poison. SE: arrhythmia, coma, tachycardia, constipation, xerostomia. Contra: Narrow-angle glaucoma. Comes from Atropa belladonna. Atropine
Musc R ANtagonist. For motion sickness. SE: somnolence, xerostomia. Contra: N-A glaucoma. Significant CNS effects (psychosis). Patch Scopolamine
Musc R Antag. For PUD. SE: arrhythmia, constipation, xerostomia, decreased sweat. Contra: GI obstruct, N-A glaucoma. Pirenzepine, Methscopolamine, Glycopyrrolate
Musc R ANtag. for COPD/Asthma. SE: paralytic ileus, bad taste. Tiotropium (better), Ipratropium
Musc R ANtag. For Overactive bladder/urge incontinence. SE: Constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth. Contra: N-A glaucoma, urinary retention. Nonspec: Oxybutynin, propantheline, Toterodine, Fesoterodine, Trospium. Spec M3 R antags: Darifenacin, Solifenacin (less dry mouth and constipation).
Nicotinic R ANtag. Nondepolarizing neuromuscular blockade for surgery/intubation. SE: HTN, tachycardia, salivation. Long acting: Pancuronium, Tubocurarine Int acting: Vecuronium, Rocuronium Short acting: Mivacurium
Nicotinic R ANtag. For HTN w/ aortic dissection. SE: paralytic ileus. Trimethaphan (don't take w/ asphyxia, neonates, shock) Mecamylamine (don't take w/ glaucoma, heart attack, pyloric stenosis, sulfonamides)
