A feather and a penny are dropped from the top of the building... which will land first and why? The penny... Air resistance will slow the feather more than the penny.
If a penny and a feather are dropped at the same time into a long tube that contains no air which one will hit the bottom of the tube first and why The will land at the same time... when there is no air...things fall at the same rate regardless of weight.
What does it take to destroy scientific law? only one counter-example
step 1 of the scientific method Make observations
Step 2 of the scientific method form a hypothesis
step 3 of the scientific method Perform experiments to confirm hypothesis
step 4 of the scientific method hypothesis is now a theory
step 5 of the scientific method perform experiments over several years
step 6 of the scientific method theory is now a law
What two things can you do if a hypothesis does not agree with the experiment designed to confirm it? discard the hypothesis or modify it to become consistent with the experiment
Can you discard or modify a theory if it doesn't agree with the experiments which were designed to test it? yes
What observation led to Lowell's hypothesis? faint lines on the surface of Mars
