QuestionAnswer
Opinion What someone thinks about something and is not necessarily true or unture.
Paraphrase To reword a selected passage of text in YOUR own words, while keeping the basic meaning the same.
Persuasive Writing Tries to convince readers to share author's views.
Prediction An inference or guess made about the future.
Propaganda The language used to influence our opinions, emotions, attitudes, and behavior.
Reference Book A dictionary, encyclopedia, or such book that contains information. They are not meant to be read cover to cover.
Resource Something that can be used for support or help.
Source Refers to the origin of information such as letters, documents, books, or interviews.
Summarize How we take larger selections of text and reduce them to their bare essentials.
Table of Contents Found at the front of a book and lists the book's chapters or sections and their page numbers.
Textbook A manual of instruction or a standard book in any branch of study.
Thesaurus A work that contains synonyms and antonyms.
Title Identify the text, attract attention to the text, create interest in the text, and describe it.
Topic Sentence Often appears as the first sentence in the paragraph. The main sentence of a paragraph because it introduces its main idea.
Allegory A story in which people, things, and actions represent an idea about life. They often have a strong moral or lesson such as the harm of greed, prejudice, or pride.
