Description of characters in Romeo and Juliet

The son and heir of Montague and Lady Montague. Though impulsive and immature, he is intelligent and wants no part in the Capulet and Montague feud. Romeo
Daughter of the Capulets. A beautiful 13 year old girl. She is naive. She puts all her love and trust into Romeo. Juliet
Juliet's caretaker. She breast-fed Juliet as a baby and has taken care of Juliet her whole life. She is Juliet's confidant and friend until the end when she and Juliet have a disagreement. Her belief in love is physical in direct contrast to Juliet's. Nurse
A Capulet. Juliet's cousin on her mother's side. He is vain, hot tempered, and aggressive. Tybalt
The father of the Capulet family. He wants what he thinks is best for Juliet to marry Paris. He is quick to fly into a rage when he feels he is not being listened to or respected. Capulet
Juliet's mother. She gave birth to Juliet at a young age around 14. She relies on the nurse to raise Juliet and wants Juliet to marry Paris. Lady Capulet
Romeo's father. At the start of the play he is concerned with Romeo's melancholy. Montague
Romeo's mother. She dies of grief after Romeo is banished. Lady Montague
A kinsmen of the Prince. Once Capulet gives him permission to woe Juliet he acts like they are already married. Paris
Montague's nephew, Romeo's cousin. He spends most of the time trying to get Romeo's mind of Rosaline even when he has moved onto Juliet. He is the foil of Tybalt. Compassionate and kind. Benvolio
