Electro-convulsive Therapy shock treatment, effective with depression
Psychosurgery corrective surgery on the brain
Psychotrophic Drugs fixes chemical imbalances *antianxiety(Valium, Xanax) *antidepressants(Prozac, Zoloft) *antipsychotic(Clozaril,Risperdal)
Intra-Psychic Therapies -prob seen as psychological in nature; work to change attitudes & beliefs *past-focued: uncovering past probs & resolving conflicts (psychoanalysis-Freud) *future-focused: help reach goals & achieve *cognitive: corrects thinking patterns and respon
Social/Behavioral Therapies -work from outside in; restructure environment & change behavior patterns *group therapy: social support, beneficial interaction *Behavior Modification: token economy, systematic desensitization, flooding, modeling
