Liquid The state of matter in which a material has a definite volume but not a definite shape.
Gas The state of matter in which a material has neither has a definite shape nor a definite volume.
Kinetic Energy The energy an object has due to its motion.
phase change a change from one state (solid or liquid or gas) to another without a change in chemical composition
endothermic noting or pertaining to a chemical change that is accompanied by an absorption of heat
heat of fusion he heat absorbed by a unit mass of a given solid at its melting point that completely converts the solid to a liquid at the same temperature: equal to the heat of solidification.
exothermic noting or pertaining to a chemical change that is accompanied by a liberation of heat
vaporization the rapid change of water into steam, especially in a boiler.
heat of vaporization he heat absorbed per unit mass of a given material at its boiling point that completely converts the material to a gas at the same temperature: equal to the heat of condensation.
evaporation he quantity of matter evaporated or passed off in vapor.
vapor pressure the pressure exerted by the molecules of a vapor, especially that part of the total pressure exerted by vapor in a mixture of gases, as by water vapor in air.
