Word of the day vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Protagonist The character in the story that has hero-like qualities.
Antagonist The character who is working against the hero; a villian.
Foreshadowing When the author gives the reader a clue as to what might happen in the future.
Red Herring A false/fake clue; to mislead the reader.
Personification Giving human qualities to non-human things.
Plot Line The series of events in a book and movie.
Euphemism A polite word/phrase used in place of one that might be inappropriate.
Allusion A casual reference to something that is real in a fiction piece.
Pun A humorous play on words.
Genre A class or category of particular content.
Dynamic Character A character who goes through a significant change from beginning to end.
Static Character A character who does not go through a significant change in the story.
Conformist Someone who unquestioningly follows the practices of a group or society.
Non-conformist Someone who does not follow along with customs, ideas, or attitudes of others.
Oxymoron A self-contradictory term.
Stereotype A mental belief held about a group of people.
Garb Wearing apparel clothes; a uniform.
Irony When the outcome is completely opposite of what is expected.
Pathetic Fallacy Giving human qualities to something in nature.
Conflict - Man vs. Man A disagreement between two or more people.
Conflict - Man vs. Self A disagreement between you and yourself in making a decision.
Conflict - Man vs. Society A disagreement between a person and the media, school, or anything in the world that will challenge them.
Conflict - Man vs. Nature A disagreement between people and the weather; aka: natural disasters.
Conflict - Man vs. Technology A disagreement between people and machinery or technology.
