what is a solid? Solid is the state of matter in which materials have a definite shape and a definite volume
what is a liquid? Liquid is the state of matter in which a material has a definite volume but not a definite shape.
what is a gas? Gas is the state of matter in which a material has neither a definite shape nor a definite volume.
Definition of Kinetic theory? Kinetic energy is the energy an object due to its motion.
definition of phase change? A phase change is the reversible physical change that occurs when a substance changes from one state of matter to another.
definition of endothermic? (of a reaction or process) Accompanied by or requiring the absorption of heat.
what is the heat of fusion? heat absorbed by a unit mass of a solid at its melting point in order to convert the solid into a liquid at the same temperature.
definition of exothermic? (of a reaction or process) Accompanied by the release of heat.
definition of vaporization? annihilation by vaporizing something.
what is the heat of vaporization? heat absorbed by a unit mass of a material at its boiling point in order to convert the material into a gas at the same temperature.
definition of evaporation? vaporization: the process of becoming a vapor.
what is vapor pressure? The pressure of a vapor in contact with its liquid or solid form.
definition of condensation? Water that collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact with it.
definition of sublimation? a change directly from the solid to the gaseous state without becoming liquid
