QuestionAnswer
What is pressure? Pressure is the result of a force distributed over an area.
what are the three main states of matter? solid, liquid, gas
What is Kinetic energy? Is the energy an object has due to its motion.
What factors affect gas pressure? its temperature, its volume, and the number of its particles.
What will increasing the number of particles increase? The pressure of a gas if the temperature and volume are constant.
What will reducing the volume of a gas increase? It will increase its pressure if the temperature of the gas and the number of particles are constant.
What is a temperature of O K called? absolute zero
What are Charles Laws? They state that the volume of a gas is directly proportional to its temperature in kelvins if the pressure and the number of particles of the gas are constant.
What does Boyles Law state? That the volume of gas is inversely proportional to its pressure if the temperature and the number of particles are constant
what is a solid? is the state of matter in which materials have definite shape and definite volume.
what is a liquid? is the state of matter in which a material has a definite volume but not a definite shape.
what is a gas? the state of matter in which a material has neither a definite shape nor in definite volume.
What is a reversible physical change that occurs when s substance changes from one state of matter to another? Phase Change
What happens during endothermic changes? the system absorbs energy from its surroundings
What is the phase change in which a substance changes from a liquid to a gas? vaporization
What is the process that changes a substance from liquid to a gas at temperatures below the substances boiling point? evaporation
what is caused by collisions of vapor and the walls of a container? vapor pressure
what is the phase change in which a substance changes from a solid to a gas or vapor without changing the liquid first? Sublimation
what is it called when a gas changes directly into a solid without changing to a liquid first? deposition

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
