What is the difference between bacteriostatic and bacteriocidial? Bacteriostatic in hibits the growth or multipication of bacteria. Bacteriocidal is destructive to the bacteria
What is a super infection? Infection occurring after or on top of an earlier infection, esp. following treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics.
Are antibiotics effective agaist viruses? No
What is penicillinase? An enzyme that can inactivate penicillin, produced by certain bacteria
How is HIV transmited? By sexual contact, body fluids, from mother to child
What occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks itself? An autoimmune disease is developed
What is drug resistance? A microorganisms ability to live and grow in the presence of an anti-infective or antimicrodolial drug
