Solution made up of solvents and solutes; particles not easily seen
Solvent The larger substance in a solution
Solute The smaller substance in a solution
Colloid contains small undissolved particles that scatter light
Suspension a mixture in which particles can be seen and easily seperated.
Dilute Solution has little dissolve solute in it
Concentrated Solution has lots of dissolved solute in it
Saturated solution a sloution where no more will dissolve in it
Unsaturated solution not saturated
Supersaturated solution has more dissolved solute than it "should"
Corrosive they "eat away" at other materials
Indicator a compound that changes color when in contact with an acid or a base
Base a substance that tastes bitter, feels slippery, and turns red litmus paper blue
Acid any substance that produces H+ in water.
Neutralization a reaction between an acid and a base
Salt an ionic compound made from a neutralization reaction
