Properties of Matter

| chemical change | A change in matter that produces new substances with new properties. |
| states of matter | The three forms (solid, liquid, gas) in which matter exists. |
| solid | A state of matter that has a definite volume and a definite shape. |
| liquid | A state of matter that has a definite volume but no definite shape. |
| gas | A state of matter with no definite volume or shape. |
| matter | Anything that has mass and takes up space |
| density | The measurement of how much mass of a substance is contained in a given volume. |
| volume | The amount of space that matter occupies. |
