Magnetism
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Magnetism | A Specific force |
| Repel | When the 2 north or south sides of magnets push away from each other |
| Attract | When a north or south pole of a magnet come together (opposites attract) |
| Force | the push or pull |
| Source | A place where something comes from (light bulb or motor) |
| Circuit | The pathway through which the electricity flows from the d-cell to the receiver and back to the cell |
| Components | The individual items in a circuit (wires, d-cell, light bulb, motor) |
| Filament | The part of the bulb that makes light |
| Open Circuit | An incomplete circuit - electricity does not flow |
| Closed Circuit | A complete circuit - electricity flows |
| Schematic Diagram | A way to represent something in a drawing |
| Conductor | Completes a circuit and lets electricity flow from the source to the receiver |
| Insulator | Does not complete a circuit - electricity cannot flow to a receiver |
| Series Circuit | A circuit with only one pathway - when a circuit splits and goes to 2 or more components |
| Parallel Circuit | Not one pathway - when a circuit splits and goes to 2 or more components |
| Electromagnet | A coil of wire, usually wound around a core of iron or steel, which produces a magnetic field when electricity flows through the wire. |
