QM Registry Ch 10

Outcomes Assessment of Radiographic Images

QuestionAnswer
accuracy extent to which a measurement is close to true value
artifacts appearance in diagnostic image of anything that is not part of pt's anatomy
chatter artifact that appears as bands of increased OD that occur perpendicular to film direction bc of inconsistent motion of transport system, usually result of slippage of drive gears of drive chain
histogram error improper OD resulting from selection of incorrect preprocessing histogram in cathode-ray system
negative predictive value probability of not having disease given a negative test
positive predictive value probability of having disease given positive test
prevalence
receiver operator characteristic curve curve that plots true-positive fraction versus false-positive fraction and is used to evaluate imaging performance
repeat analysis data collection of repeat images to determine cause of repeats so they may be prevented in future
reticulation marks when uneven solution temperatures cause excessive expansion and contraction of film emulsion during processing, result is network of fine grooves in film surface
sensitivity indicates likelihood of obtaining positive diagnosis in pt with disease
specificity indicates likelihood of pt obtaining negative diagnosis when no disease is present
