What is a pure substance? A pure substance is matter that always has the same composition; an element and a compound.
What is an element? An element is a substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances.
What is an atom? An atom is the smallest particle of an element.
What is a Compound? A compound is a substance that is made from two or more simpler substances that can be broken down into those simpler substances.
What is a homogeneous mixture? A homogeneous mixture is a type of mixture in which substances are so evenly distributed that is difficult to distinguish one substance in the mixture from another.
What is suspension? Suspension is a heterogeneous mixture that separates into layers over time.
What is colliod? A mixture that contains some particles that are intermediate in size between the small particles in a solution and the larger particles in a suspension.
