Distributive justice equitable or equal distribution of good or bad to human beings based on a just and fair basis.
Freedom
Determinism For every effect, event, or occurrence in reality, a cause or cause exists
Fatalism belief that all events are fixed and predetermined an humans can not alter them in any way
Predestination -religious view of determinism that God is all-powerful and all knowing, then He must have predestined everything that occurs.
Indeterminism there is a certain amount of freedom not everything is caused: William James believes that our striving for good illustrated some human freedom.
What is Justice
Retributive Justice oldest form of justice; the idea that people get what they deserve, eye for an eye type of justice.
Reward something given or received for a worthy behavior
How do we reward people? how do we decide who gets rewarded?
Punishment the act of penalizing someone for a wrong doing
Retribution giving people what they deserve regardless of the consequences
Utilitarianism(result theory) rewarding or punishing based on the result of an act
Restitution(compensation theory) compensating someone who was a victim, usually the person doing the wrong doing/harm gives to the victim
John Rawl's Theory of Justice that rights are given to people by a just society
Human Rights natural rights to life and liberty belonging to all people, impacts how people should treat each other
The Value of life principle principle states that human begins should revere life and accept death
The Principle of Goodness and Rightness is ultimate to any moral system, and it requires that human beings attempt to do three things: – Promote goodness over badness and do good – Cause no harm or badness – Prevent badness or harm
The Principle of Justice and Fairness – This is distributive justice, meaning that human beings should treat other human beings justly and fairly when attempting to distribute goodness and badness among them
The Principle of Truth Telling and Honesty – Because it follows from the need to be fair and just in one’s dealings with others
The Principle of Individual Freedom • Because each individual is the only one truly able to decide what is good for himself
