Succinylcholine (anectine) Used before procedure
Anti-convulsants Phenobarbital, Dilantin, Felbatol, Depakote, Tegretol
cAMP inhibitor Methylxanthines
Cromolyn Sodium (Intal) Prevents degranulation of mast cells
Terbutaline Given sub-Q to help stop preterm labor (relaxes smooth muscle of uterus)
Dobutamine Works on Beta 1 receptors to increase HR and cardiac output
Dopamine Used to increase cardiac output and dilate renal vasculature, Must be given w/ fluid replacement or blood and Pt closely monitored
Adenosine Treats NCT by depressing SA node from firing too fast
Epinephrine Used for cardiac codes, Increased Rate and force of contractions
Atropine Anticholinergic used to treat severe bradycardia, Blocks parasympathetic
Ribavirin AKA: Virazole, Anti-viral, Treats RSV
Amphotericin B treats Valley Fever
Nystatin treats candida (yeast)
Cephalosporins Used in Pt who are allergic to penicillins, 1st gen: Treats staph, strep, E-coli, 2nd gen: Broader than 1sr gen, Treats community-acquired pneumonia, 3rd gen: Broader than 2nd generation, Treats gram negatives
Tetracyclines Used to treat gram positive cocci and negative bacilli, Not for kids <8 years or pregnant women
