Precautions of Drug Admin.

Digoxin 1. Apical pulse 1 min./ <60 hold med, call MD, 60-100 give med, >100 give med call MD
Heparin Know PTT/ if high, hold & call MD/ observe for bleeding/ if bleeding present, hold med. call MD
Coumadin Know PTT & INR/ if high, hold med. call MD/ observe for bleeding/ if bleeding present, hold med. call MD
Insulin Know BS level/ <70 hold insulin, notify MD/ 70-150 give insulin/ >150 give insulin call MD for further coverage
Demerol Know BP and resp. rate/ If either low, hold med. call MD (any pain meds.)
Penicillin Know allergies
Dalmane Know LOC and resp. rate/ LOC or resp. rate low, hold med call MD
Potassium Know K level in blood/ (3.5-5.0)/ if high, hold med call MD/ if low, give med call MD
Antihypertensives Know BP/ if low, hold med. call MD/ extremely high, call MD
Nitroglycerin Know BP and heart rate/ if BP low, hold med call MD/ heart rate elevated, hold med call MD
