What is personality? An individuals predisposition to behave in a certain way.
What is the interactionist theory? A theory that suggests that differ in changing environments and is stable in unchanging environments. B=f(p.e)
What are traits? Traits are innate personality characteristics that allow behavior to be predicted.
What is POMS? Profile of mood states is a phycological questionnaire used to measure the moods of successful and unsuccessful athletes.
What is an ice berg affect? the POMS profile that is associated with successful athletes.
What is NACH and describe its characteristics? Need to achieve. Seek out challenges, not afraid to fail,approach behaviors, values feed back and is concerned with performance so will do extra training.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Observation? Advantages: Real life setting(player will perform naturally) Disadvantages: Low validity, expensive and time consuming
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Interviews? Advantages: Greater validity. Disadvantages: Misinterpret comments, expensive and time consuming.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Questionnaire? Advantages: Quick to do, you can analysis data, reliable, higher ratio of people can do it at once, easy and cheap. Disadvantages:People can lie, low validity, limitations of how you can respond, people tend to write what what the questioner wants to hear.
What is NAF and describe its characteristics? Need to avoid failure. Avoids situations where success is 50:50, avoids challenges, avoidance behaviors, does not value feedback and performs worse when being evaluated.
