beat: steady pulse of all music.
quarter note: one beat of sound.
barline vertical line that groups notes and rest together.
measure: the space between the barlines.
meter; way of organizing rhythm.
time signature: set of numbers at the begging of a piece of music.
staff: five lines and four spaces on which notes are written.
clef: symbol at begging of a piece of music that which lines and spaces represent which notes.
treble clef: clef that generally indicates notes that sound higher than middle c.
bass clef; a clef that generally indicates notes that sound lower than middle c.
grand staff: a staff that is created when 2 staves are joined together.
scale: group of pitches which are sung or played in succession based on a particular home tone or tonic.
key: determined by its home tone or tonic.
rhythm; combination of long and short notes and rest.
half note; note that represents two beats of sound.
half rest: rest that represents two beats of silence.
