Time signature | Set of numbers at the beginning of a piece of music. |
staff | Five lines and four spaces on which notes are written. |
Clef | Symbol at the beginning of a piece of music that indicates which lines represent which notes. |
Treble clef | Cleft that generally indicates notes highr than middle c |
bass clef | cleft that generally indicates notes lower than middle c |
grand staff | a staff created when two staves are joined together |
scale | a group of pitches sung or played in succession and are based of a home tune. (tonic) |
Key | determined by its home tone, or tonic |
rhythm | combinations of long and short notes and rests |
half note | note that represents two beats of sound |
half rest | note that represents two beats of silence |
