| Barline | Vertical line that groups notes and rests together |
| Measure | The space between the barlines |
| Meter | Way of organizing rhythm |
| Time Signature | Set of numbers at the beginning of a piece of music. |
| Staff | Five lines and four spaces on which notes are written |
| Clef | Symbol at the beginning of a staff that indicates which lines and spaces represent which ones. |
| Treble Clef | Clef that generally indicates notes that are higher than middle C |
| Bass Clef | Clef that generally indicates note lower than middle C |
| Grand Staff | A staff that is created when to staves are joined together |
| Scale | A group of pitches when are sung or played in succesion are based on a particular home tone (tonic) |
| Key | Detirmined by its home tone or tonic. |
| Rhythm | Combination of long and short notes and rests. |
| Half Note | Note that represents to beats of sound |
| Half Rest | Note that represents to beats of silence |
| Dotted Half Note | a note that represents three beats of music |
| Whole Note | a note that represents four beats of sound |
| Whole Rest | a note that represents four beats of silence. |
| Major Scale | From Do to Do |
| Natural Minor Scale | Is from La to La |
| Eighth Note | Is a note that represents half a beat of sound. |
| Eighth Rest | Is a note that represents half a beat of silence |
| Major Tonic Triad | Do, Mi, So, Built on the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes on the Major Scale. |
| Minor Tonic Triad | La, Do, Mi; built on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes of the minor scale |
| Tie | Is a curved line used to connect two or more Notes of the same pitch in order to make one longer note |
| Dotted Quarter Note | is a curved line used to connect two or more Notes of the same pitch in order to make one longer note |
| Interval | distance between two notes. |
