Constuctivism | The theory that states people learn based on their own understanding. |
Discovery Learning | The theory that someone can discover information on their own or in groups. |
Extrinisic Motivation | Motivation that comes from the "outside" such as rewards. |
Intrinsic Motivation | Motivation that comes from the "inside". |
Learned Helplessness | A learned tendency to rely on others for help. |
Scaffolding | Steps or support needed until a person can handle a new skill on their own. |
Schema | Mind Map(or web) based on past understandings and experiences |
Proximal development | The point where a student can learn better by working with someone else. |
Auditory Learner | Someone who learns through listening. |
Behavior Disorders | A conduct disorder in children. |
Concrete Operational Thinker | A person (usually age 7-11) who thinks in logical terms and not abstractly. (These thinkers like hands-on activities.) |
Formal Operational Thinker | a person who thinks hypothetically or uses abstract though processes. (usually after age 11) |
Tactile Learner | a person who learns through touch. |
