Peds Motor Control: FM Skills

QuestionAnswer
Knowledge of Results (KR) (Def) involves information provided from an external source about the outcome or end result of the performance of skill or task. It allows knowing if a skill was achieved.
Knowledge of performance (KP) (def) involves the clinician providing information about how the task is performed and answers the question about what was actually done.
FYI about KP KP feedback can be descriptive by describing the error observed in performance or can be prescriptive
Variety of combinations as to how KR and KP facilitate learning KP and KR should be given close in time to but after completion of the task.
Variety of combinations as to how KR and KP facilitate learning KP and KR should not necessarily be given 100% of the time.
Variety of combinations as to how KR and KP facilitate learning Learning is enhanced if KP and KR are given at least 50% of the time.
Variety of combinations as to how KR and KP facilitate learning Frequently used procedure for giving KR and KP is to practice a skill several times and then provide several times and then provide the appropriate feedback.
Distribution and variability of skill practice (3) massed, distributed, and varability of practice
massed (def) a practice schedule in which the rest intervals between practice sessions or trials are very short
distributed (def) a practice schedule in which the rest intervals are longer
varability of practice (Def) practice experiences in which there are a variety of tasks in different environmental contexts.
Distribution and variability of skill practice-FYI Shorter, more frequent practice sessions are preferred to longer, less frequent practice.
Distribution and variability of skill practice-FYI If a skill or task is complex and requires repetitive movements, relatively short practice trials or sessions with frequent rest periods are preferred.
Distribution and variability of skill practice-FYI If the skill is relatively simple and takes only a brief time to complete, longer practice trials or sessions with less frequent rest are preferred.
Distribution and variability of skill practice- FYI It can enhance skill acquisition to practice several tasks in the same session.
Distribution and variability of skill practice- FYI If several tasks are to be practiced, divide the time spent on each and either randomly repeat them or use a sequence that aids in the overall practice.
Distribution and variability of skill practice-FYI Providing a # of different environmental contexts in which the skill is practiced appears to facilitate learning.
Distribution and variability of skill practice- FYI With regard to the amount of practice, more is not necessarily better.
Distribution and variability of skill practice- FYI With regard to the amount of practice, more is not necessarily better.
Distribution and variability of skill practice- FYI Clinical judgment should be used to recognize when practice is no longer producing changes; at this time a new or different task could and probably should be introduced.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
