What is fascism? Fascists believed in nationalism, dictatorship, racism and the use of violence. It was against democracy and communism
What were the main reasons for dissatisfaction in Italy after the first World War? Italy's weak democratic government, the loss of Dalmatia and Fiume after the Paris Peace Conference, the economy, social issues and a fear of communism
What was the Acerbo Law of 1923? A proposition that the party that got the most votes in the next election would get two-thirds of the seats in parliament
How did Mussolini ensure the Fascists won the general election of 1924? He enrolled his Blackshirt's into a Volunteer Militia to make their violence legal so they could threaten people into voting for him and attack members of the opposition parties
What was the Aventine Secession of June 1924 and what were it's affects? The pulling out of parliament of the Socialist Party and other parties in protest after the murder of Mussolini's biggest critic Giacomo Matteoti by a group of fascists. Mussolini took advantage of their absence and took complete power of parliament
What did the special court for those critical of Mussolini do ? Exiled or imprisoned over 4,000 people to small islands- executed only 10
