Atelectasis Collapse of all or part of the lung
bronchitis inflammation of the bronchi

emphysema destructive and obstructive airway changes leading to an increased volume of air in the lungs
tuberculosis chronic infection of the lung caused by the bacteria tubercle bacillus
respiratory distress syndrome under-aeration of the lungs caused by lack of surfactant
metastasis transfer of cancerous lesion from one area to another
pleural effusion collection of fluid in the pleural cavity
pneumonia acute infection in the lung parenchyma
pneumothorax accumulation of air in the pleural cavity resulting in collapse of lung
pulmonary edema replacement of air with fluid in the lung interstitium and alveoli
Ascites fluid accumulation in the peritoneal cavity
Bowel Obstruction blockage of the bowel lumen
Ileus failure of bowel peristalsis
pneumoperitoneum presence of air in the peritoneal cavity
Dislocation displacement of bone from joint space
Bennett fracture Fracture at base of 1st metacarpal
Boxers Fracture fracture of metacarpal neck
Colles Fracture fracture of the distal radius with posterior dorsal placement
Smith Fracture fracture of the distal radius with anterior Palmer displacement
Gout hereditary form of arthritis in which uric acid is deposited into the joints
Osgood Schlatter incomplete separation or avulsion of the tibial tuberosity
jones fracture avulsion fracture at the base of the 5th metatarsal
potts fracture avulsion fracture of the medial malleolus with loss of the ankle mortise
osteomalacia (Rickets) softening of the bones due to vitamin D deficiency
Pagets Disease chronic metabolic disease of bone marked by weakened, deformed, and thicker bone that fractures easily
chondrosarcoma malignant tumor arising from cartilage cells
Ewing sarcoma malignant tumor of bone arising in medullary tissue
osteomyelitis inflammation of bone due to a pyogenic infection
osteosarcoma malignant, primary tumor with bone or cartilage formation
trimalleolar fracture Fracture of lateral and medial malleoli as well as posterior lip of distal tibia
Avulsion resulting from a ligament tear
Stellate fracture Fracture lines radiate from central point (starburst appearance)
commonly caused by a force from collision or fall Patellar dislocation
Ossification appears between ages 3 and 5 patellar ossification
most commonly broken carpal bone scaphoid
intussusception a serious condition in which part of the intestine slides into an adjacent part of the intestine.
