Visioning | Process to work with citizens to generate consensus thru a series of meetings gathering shared vision abt the phys, social and env future of the community. Focus on community wants, not existing conditions. Develop 20-30 year vision statement. |

Charrette | short and intense collaborative process for designing projects, planning communities and building consensus. Designed for visioning bc the primary objective involved the public in plan dev from community interaction instead of top-down env. |
Community Workshop | Similar to charrettes in terms of collaboration and consensus building but w broader focus than phys design incl jobs and housing, health, safety, education, arts and culture. |
GIS | Tool used to geographically show, train or educate with "what if" scenarios involving zoning, transportation and econ dev strategy. |
Interactive websites | Used to create dramatic improvements in communication thru interactive visual aids to a larger # of people that can or cannot attend meetings. |
Online survey | Gather and analysis public input as part of a wider public outreach effort. |
