Who invaded the Western Half of the Roman Empire? (10/3) In the fifth century, Germanic invaders overran the western half of the Roman Empire.
Who is a Monarch? (10/4) A Monarch is another word for a King or Queen. Monarchs owned the land in their territory.
Who is a Noble/Lord? (10/4) A noble is a person who serves the monarch. They can be called Dukes, Barons, Earls or whatever
What is a Knight? (10/4) A knight was a highly skilled warrior that followed the values of chivalry
What did a Peasant/Serf do? (10/4) In exchange for working the nobles land, serfs were given small plots of land and some of the food that they produced on their plots and shelter.
Why was Feudalism created? (10/4) After the Roman Empire fell there was no strong central government, With no standing army or police societies were plunged into chaos. Feudalism provided some structure to society and offered protection for the masses.
What was the Manor System? (10/4) The Manor System was the basic economic system that grew out of and supported Feudalism.
What was Knighthood? (10/5) Knighthood was really very much like an apprenticeship/mentorship. Knights often gained experience by fighting in staged combats called tournaments.
Why was the Church so important? (11/1) The Church was the most dominant institution.The reason the Church was so dominant was because they were the only educated people that were taught the Greek and Roman knowledge and who could read and write Latin and Greek in the Medieval society.
How were the Germanic Tribes united? (11/1) The Germanic tribes were united by the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church/Christianity.
What was the main goal for everybody in the Middle Ages ? (11/1) The main goal of every person in the Middle Ages was to reach heaven by doing whatever they were told, not questioning anything or their position in life, and to be a good Christian.
What was the most dominant institution in the Middle Ages? (11/1) The Church was the most dominant institution.The reason the Church was so dominant was because they were the only educated people that were taught the Greek and Roman knowledge and who could read and write Latin and Greek in the Medieval society
What were the role of Women during the Middle Ages? (11/1) During Medieval Times,women were taught by the Church that they were inferior to men.
Who were Knights suppose to fight for? (10/5) Knights were to fight bravely for three masters; their lord, their God, and their chosen lady.
What were Women's role in the feudalism society? (10/5) Women had very little power. They were taught they were inferior to men by the Church. They played important roles in the lives of both noble and peasant families.
Who were the Knights suppose to protect? (10/5) The Knights were tasked to protect the poor and the weak.
What were Knights suppose to live their lives with? (10/5) Knights were supposed to live their lives with the following values; bravery, honesty, respect, loyalty, and compassion.
What played a key role in spreading Christianity? (10/3) Politics played a key role in spreading Christianity. By 600, the Church, with the help of Frankish rulers, had converted many Germanic peoples.
Who were the monasteries? (10/3) Monasteries were a religious community of men (also known as monks)
What did monasteries do? (10/3) Monasteries gave up their possessions to devote themselves to a life of prayer and worship
Who also played a key role in spreading Christianity? (10/3)
