What role did Vladimir Lenin play in the Russian Revolution? Overthrew the monarch and brought communism to Russia
Why did communism appeal to so many Russians? Promise to end classes, promise to make everyone share equal work and rewards.
What was the world's first communist country? Soviet Union
What did the Treaty of Versailles do? Ended World War I
What were the terms of the treaty? Germany had to accept blame, pay $33 billion, get rid of military and lose colonies and land.
Why did France want the treaty to be harsh? Germany needed to pay for starting war and keep them from invading France again
Why did the US not sign the treaty? The US thought it was a bad idea to punish Germany with such high payments
How was Germany's economy impacted by the treaty? It suffered; inflation and economic depression occured
Why was the League of Nations established during this time? to keep world peace
What are some reasons why there was a worldwide economic depression after World War I? Great loss of life and property damage, inflation, countries had to pay back war debts, stock market and banks crashed
What was life in Germany like after WWI? people were unemployed, poor, unhappy
Who was the leader of the Nazi party in Germany? Adolf Hitler
How did Hitler rise to power? He promised German people that he would rebuild the military, take back German lands and make Germany a proud and strong nation again.
