Aristotle Greece Philosopher during the classical period of ancient greece. He was the founder of Lyceceum. He also created the school of philopsophy. He was educated by his tutor- Plato
Stoicism A school of Hellenistic philosophy which founded by Zeno in Athens. Stoicism is a philosophy of personal ethics informed by its system of logic and its natural views on the natural world.
Hittites Were an ancient group of Indo europeans who moved into asian menur and formed an empire at Hatussa in anatolia. Empire reached great heights during the mid 1300s when iot spread across Asia.
Ahruamazda The spirit of Zoroastrianism the ancient persian myhology. IT spread across asia predating christianity.
Deme In ancient greece a deme was a suburb of Athens and the other city-states. Demes were a subdivision of land in the country side
Cuneiform- One of the earliest systems of writing invented by sumerians in ancient mesopotamia. It is wedge shaped with marks on a clay tablet. The name means wedge shaped.
Greek Dark Ages Intervewl between the collpase of the Mycenaen civilizations. The greek archaic period which was also known as early iron age. This also had the first signs of Poleis
Pelloponnesian War- The war between the Spartans and the Athens. They were the two most powerful city-states in ancient greece. The power was then given to the Spartans. Making them the most powerful.
Theocritus Was a sicillian poet. He was the creater of ancient greece and pastorial poetry.
Cyrus the Great- Founder of the Achaemenid Empire which was trhe first persian empirecyrus ran many military campaigns against powerful kingdoms. One of which was babylonia. He let the Jews return home to Jerusalem.
Eratosthenes A greek polymath , a mathematician, geographer, poet, astronomer. He was a man who believed in the power of knowledge. He was also a liberian
Hyksos- A people of diverse origins possibly from western asia. The arrival of them led to the end of the 13th dynasty. They initiated intermediate periood of egypt.
Alexander the great Conquered many city-states and had many followers. He was the conqerer of the persian empire. He was the reason for the He;l;enistic period.
Solon Was an athenias stateman and lawmaker and poet. He is remembered for his efforts to legislate againist political economic and a moral decline in athens. He essentially laid the foundation for atheian democracy.
Minoan civilization- Was a bronze age civilization on the island of crete. They known for building the first civilization on european soil. They built infamous palaces
Kingdoms of Judah The nation was formed after the united kingdom of israel was divided. It was israels successor.
Euripiades Was a tragedian of classical athens. He was a playwright who has surviving work. He was also a poe. He was known for tradegies.
The Assyrians- are a people who lived in the middle east. Mesopotamia klingdom. They conquered much of the middle east and egypt. The babylonians were the cause of their downfall.
Battle of Marathon It was during the first persian invasion of greece. Battle between the athens and the persians. It inspired other greeks to resist Xerxes.
Hammurabi code A babylonian code of law of ancient mesopotamia. One of the oldest deciphered writings of length in the world. Was full of fines and punishments.
