Rational Numbers Integers, Fractions, Decimals Ex. .2, .9478, 4, 5, -1.9
Opposites Numbers that have the same absolute value. Ex. 9 and -9
Absolute Value The distance from 0. Ex. 9 is the absolute value of -9
Integers Whole Numbers, Their Opposites, and 0. Ex. 1,2,3 -1,-2,-3,0
Additive Inverse Two numbers, a and b, that satisfy the equation. Ex. a+b=0, -3+3=0
Additive Identity Zero is the additive identity of any number. This is because if you add 0 to a number it will not change.
A positive plus a positive equals a positive
A negative plus a negative equals a negative
When the addend signs are different in addition you use the sign who's "owner" has the bigger absolute value.
Factor times Factor equals Product
Product divided by Factor equals Factor
Dividend divided by divisor equals Quotient
Commutative Property A Property that states that the order of the numbers in an equation will not change the answer.
Multiplicative Inverse The multiplicative inverse is when you multiply reciprocal of a number and get one.
Reciprocal The reciprocal is a number that you can multiply to another number and get one. For example 5×1/5 equals one another example 2×1/2 equals one.
