List the severe reactions of contrast media respiratory or cardiac crisis
Most common contraindications for IVU? ability of the kidneys to filter contrzst medium from the blood, and the pt alleric history
How long should alcohol soultion be left on the skin before the needle is instered? 30 sec
How much of an area around the puncture site should be cleaned? 2 in circle
How far above the puncture site should a tourniquet be placed? 6-8 inc
At what angle should the needle be held? 45 deg
- a complication when the medication or contrast material enters the soft tissue instead of the vein infiltration
What are signs of infiltration? swelling, redness, burning, and pain
What are some common therapies for infiltration? apply ice if its within 30 mins of happening warm wet compress if more than 30 mins
