| Question | Answer |
| Instantaneous speed | A cop radar guns your car and it registers the speed you are going at that time |
| Velocity | This describes the speed and direction of a moving object |
| Speed | Distance / Time |
| Distance | A measure of how far an object travels |
| Displacement | The distance and direction an object travels |
| Acceleration | A change in speed or direction |
| Positive Acceleration | Speed increases |
| Negative Acceleration | Speed decreases; deceleration |
| Formula for Acceleration | (final velocity - initial velocity) / time |
| Force | A push or pull - occurs in pairs |
| Net Force | Two or more forces acting on an object at the same time and combine to form this |
| Balanced Forces | Forces on an object equal in size and opposite in direction |
| Unbalanced Forces | This can cause the motion of an object to change |
| Newton's First Law of Motion | States that an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion until acted on by an unbalanced force |
| Inertia | The tendency of an object to resist motion |
| Newton's Second Law of Motion | This states that force causes an object to accelerate in the direction of the force; F = M x A |
| Friction | A force that opposes the sliding motion of two surfaces touching each other |
| Gravity | Attractive force between two objects; Equal to 9.8 m/sec/sec |
| Weight | Changes going into space; W = M x G |
| Newton's Third Law of Motion | For every action force, there is an equal and opposite reaction force |
