Question | Answer |
Algebraic Expression | A mathematical phrase involving at least one variable and sometimes numbers and operation symbols. |
Constant | A quantity that does not change its value. |
Equation | A mathematical sentence that contains an equals sign. |
Exponent | The number of times a number or expression (called base) is used as a factor of repeated multiplication. Also called the power. |
Inverse Operations | Pairs of operations that undo each other; addition &subtraction; multiplication & division. |
Order of Operations | The rules to be followed when simplifying expressions: 1)grouping, 2)exponents, 3) Multiplication and Division (in order from left to right), 4) Addition and Subtraction (in order from left to right. |
Proportion | An equation which states that two ratios are equal. |
Variable | A letter or symbol used to represent a number. |
