Hydrogen Bond | A strond dipole-dipole attraction between a slightly positive hydrogen atom on one or molecule and a pair of nonbonding electrons on another molecule |
Soulbilty | The ability of a solute to dissolve in a given solvent |
Soulble | Capable of dissoliving to an appreciable extent in a given solvent |
Insoluble | Not capable of dissolving to an appreciable extent in a given solution |
Precipitate | A solute that has come out of solution |
Acid | A substance that donates hydrogen ions |
Neutrilization | A reaction in which an acid and base combine to form a salt |
Base | A substance that accepts hydrogen ions |
Hydronium | A water molecule after it accpets a hydrogen ion |
Hydroxide | A water molecule after it accpets a hydrogen ion |
Acidic solution | A solution in which the hydronium ion concetration is higher than the hydroxide ion concentration |
Basic solution | A solution in which the hydroxide ion concentration is higher than the hydronium ion concentration |
Neutral Solution | A solution in which the hydronium and hydroxide ion concentrations are equal |
pH | A measure of the acidity of a solution, equal to the negative of the bass-10 logrithim of the hydronium ion concentration |
