Question | Answer |
Mobilization is a passive movement technique designed to | improve joint function. |
Indications: | restricted joint mobility, restricted accessory motion, desired neurophysiological effects |
Contraindications: | active disease, infection, advanced osteoporosis, articular hypermobility, fracture, acute inflammation, muscle guarding, joint replacement |
Grade I | Small amplitude movement performed at the beginning of range |
Grade II | Large amplitude movement performed within the range, but not reaching the limit of the range and not returning to the beginning of range |
Grade III | Large amplitude movement performed to the limit of range |
Grade IV | Small amplitude movement performed at the limit of range |
Convex-Concave Rule Determines | the direction of decreased joint gliding and the appropriate direction for the mobilizing force. |
Convex surface moving on a concave surface: | Roll and slide occur in the opposite direction |
Convex surface moving on a concave surface Mobilizing force should be | applied in the opposite direction of the bone movement |
Concave surface moving on a convex surface: | Roll and slide occur in the same direction |
Concave surface moving on a convex surface Mobilizing force should be | applied in the same direction as the bone movement |
